The Young Hopefuls @ thirtyninehotel

If you happen to be in the Chinatown area for pau hana sometime before July 15, make sure to stop in at thirtyninehotel for a look at "The Young Hopefuls," an exhibit featuring works by current Oahu high school students.

Not bad stuff, from what I saw before the monthly "First Friday" festivities at the art gallery/nightspot. There are some talented kids out there, and Hoala High School senior Brandon Ells did a good job of rounding up a variety of different artists.

There's traditional oil on canvas paintings, charcoal drawings and a ceramic sculpture, but students also contributed mixed media and digital media pieces along with a mural.

You can read more about the exhibit here.
