Lots To Do This Weekend...

Big things going on in Honolulu this weekend, as we make our way towards the home stretch of the holiday shopping season.

Our pick for the biggest, however, has to go to Eddie Vedder and the rest of Pearl Jam, who play at the Blaisdell on Saturday before next weekend's Aloha Stadium concert with U2. Did you know that the keyboardist for PJ is a Hawaii guy, from out Waimanalo side? He met Eddie while the two were surfing here on Oahu.

We know... UH is playing the biggest game of the year that night against Oregon State. But we'll stick with Pearl Jam.

By the way, here's something about a "secret show" the band did on Thursday at the Waimea Valley Audobon Center.

If you read today's "In the Mix," you would know about some of the other big things going on this weekend, like Friday's big ICON Sport event at the Blaisdell, or that Kelly Hu will be hosting Saturday's "SKYLiNE" party with DJ Kid Millionaire (aka Steve Aoki) at the Hanohano Room.

Other parties covered in the column include the new bi-weekly party at Lotus, Sick Dog Productions doing a BYOB party at a new cafe in Waikiki and a bunch of on-sale events for local sneakerheads at Island Snow and In4mation.

We're also interested in checking out Shwayze at Brew Moon's "Rockstar Fridays" party and Saturday's "Monkey Bar" at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki... Saturday's 18-and-over "West Side Bash" at Pipeline Cafe features Loco Loc, Mt. Keala, Kawao, Koa'uka, Laga Savea and Baba B... Honolulu's own DJ Monkey is the special guest at Subphonix on Friday at Mercury, with DJs BillyZane and Thread opening things up...

Meanwhile, back at Monkey's normal Saturday hangout at Indigo, Hierarchy presents "Shaken Not Stirred," a one-time party with DJs Compose, Zack Morris, Babyface, Lukas and Loriel. There is also a fashion show by Soleil Boutique planned for the night.

And yes... there's more. Check out this week's Crawlspace for details on Soulmedic at Bliss on Friday, and the "Gritty Fifty Radio Mixtape Listening Party" at Jus1 on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, "Go-Go" turns into "Frost" at Chai's Island Bistro. I hear that Chai has arranged for a huge air-conditioning unit to help make things extra-chilly at the restaurant, and that one lucky person will win a pair of diamond earrings from the Wedding Ring Shop.

The weekend wraps up, as usual, with Stone Groove Radio at midnight on Sunday. If you like local hip-hop and new music you won't hear anywhere else... then you can't possibly sleep on this show.
